My Goals For The Future

My Goals For The Future | Tea And Beauty

I have been thinking recently about all the things I'd like to do in the future, they are things that are pretty much do-able as well, which makes it even better to actually achieve them. I hate making goals that I know I really won't be able to pull off. So today I thought I would share with you that list...

1. Move house next year
This is actually something we are already saving for and looking into. Now when I say move house, what I should really put is move out of the county. We currently live in the Midlands, however we really want to move down to Exeter. It would be good for everyone, so many great places to go to like the beach and plenty of places if you just fancy going out for a walk one Sunday as a family. Fingers crossed everything goes as planned.

2. Get a dog
This is something we have thought of with moving, currently we aren't allowed pets in the apartment we are renting now. Moving to Exeter, there are so many places to go out for a walk and having a dog is something we really do want. The kids would love one to and I generally think all round it's a great idea. We have decided we would like either an English Bulldog or a Dalmatian. Bulldogs are my favorite dogs and my partners to, however they are rather on the expensive side. In case we decide not to go with a Bulldog, we also thought of a Dalmatian, we actually know someone who had one for years and she really was the most loveliest dog you'd meet.  Obviously with the kids we wanted a friendly, family dog. I am however a strong believer of it's the owner not the dog.

3. Get married
I have been with my partner for just over 13 years and 3 months (almost) and engaged for almost 13 years. We met in May and he asked me to marry him in August, now people may say that was a bit soon, but when you know you know right? Plus we have been together just over 13 years as I said so clearly we were meant to be. We have not actually gotten round to getting married, not that we haven't tried, but you just don't realise how expensive weddings are until you start looking into them. We almost did it last year but then something came up and we couldn't do it. However I am determined, we were looking at doing it abroad actually, which is much cheaper and you are guaranteed nice weather, depending on where you go, unlike lovely England where it can rain at the drop of a hat.

4. Really try and make something of my blog
I love blogging and it would be great if I could really step it up and try and make something out of it. Just recently I have had a new look and tweaked some of the pages and sidebar a bit. It still feels like a bit of a working progress but I feel I am getting there. Now I just want to write even better content and step up my writing and even my pictures.

5. Go to Paris
I have been to Orlando and New York but Paris is on the list of places I really want to go to. To go and visit the Eiffel Tower, eat pasties and walk round all the shops, it just seems so lovely and romantic.

What are the things you want to do in the future?

My August Book List

My August Book List | Tea And Beauty

Another month and another book list! This month's books are ones I have been wanting to read for a while now and I am finally getting around to reading them. Two are actually fairly old books and one is brand spanking new out this month.

The Wild Girl by Kate Forsyth

My August Book List | Tea And Beauty

Once upon a time there were six sister's. Te pretty one, the musical one, the clever one, the helpful one, the young one...
And then there was the wild one.
Dortchen Wild has loved Wilhelm Grimm since she was a young girl. Under the forbidding shadow of her father and the tyranny of Napoleon's army, the pair meet secretly to piece together a magical fairy tale collection.
The story behind the stories of the Brothers Grimm.

Where We Belong by Emily Giffin

My August Book List | Tea And Beauty

Marian Caldwell is a television producer, living her dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her life is just where she wants it to be. But one night Marian answers a knock on the door...
Only to find Kirby Rose, and eighteen year old girl with a key to the past that Marian thought she had sealed off forever.
From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian's perfectly constructed world - and her very identity - will be shaken to it's core, resurrecting memories of a passionate young love affair that threaten everything that has come to define her.
For the prcious and determined Kirby, the encounter will force her to re-evaluate her family and future. As the two women embark on a journey to find the one thing missing in their lives, each will come to realise that where we belong is often where we least expect to find ourselves - a place that we may have willed ourselves to forget, but that the heart remembers forever.

Sunset In Central Park by Sarah Morgan

My August Book List | Tea And Beauty

True love can be hard to find, even when it's been right under your nose all along...
After witnessing the fallout of her parent's divorce, love has never been a priority for garden designer Frankie Cole. The only man in her life is her friend Matt - but that's strictly platonic. If only she found it easier to ignore how he makes her heart race...
Matt Walker has loved Frankie for years, but has always played it cool. Until he discovers new depth's to the girl he's known forever, and doesn't want to wait a moment longer.
Matt knows Frankie has secrets and has buried them deep, but can he persuade her to kiss him under the Manhattan sunset?

The Wild Girl actually isn't usually the sort of books I would read, but that is exactly why I want to read it. I love a good fairy tale but giving it maybe a darker side, might make for a very good read.
Where we belong just sounded like a good read as soon as I heard about it, it reminds me slightly of Landline by Rainbow Rowell and I loved that book, so I'm hoping this will be just as good.
As for Sunset in Central Park, I read the first book in the series, Sleepless In Manhattan, and loved it so much I went straight ahead and pre-ordered this book and the next one.
Plus with two of the books being set in New York, it will remind me of when we went there, and I do really miss it and really wish we could go back.

Have you read any of these? What's on your reading list for August?

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Hair Range

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Hair Range | Tea And Beauty

Just recently I have been really uping my hair game, never have I used a weekly hair mask so much or even styled my hair using actual hair products. I am generally a lazy person when it come to my hair, I will wash it the night before and just leave it to dry naturally. However when I came across the Coco Loco Range in Boot's a couple of month's ago I just knew I had to try it.

Coconut is all so very popular at the moment, and it's not hard to see why with it's super moisturising properties. I have fine, thin hair and it is a struggle to do anything with it. My hairdresser has said multiple times how my hair is in such good condition, so that is not a problem but thickening it up is. I have used multiple shampoo and conditioners plus serums etc that claim to thicken your hair, but alas nothing actually seemed to work. Until that is I started using the Coco Loco shampoo and conditioner. Imagine my surprise when my hairdresser turned round to me and said my hair felt thicker. I was so happy and to think at that point I had only been using it for about a week to a week and a half, so if it can thicken my hair in that amount of time can you imagine what it's been doing long term?!

My hair has felt super smooth, moistursed and oh so soft since using the shampoo and conditioner, you definitely notice the difference just whilst washing it. The shampoo does make your hair feel thicker and so by the time you have rinsed the conditioner out I am left with super smooth, soft hair. I haven't even mentioned just how amazing it smells to, because it really does. It smells so good I want to eat it, so coco-nutty and exotic.

After washing my hair I leave it wrapped up in a loose towel for 5-10 minutes and then rub a pea sized amount of the Coco Loco Coconut Balm through my hair. This is a solid moisturising balm that melts into an oil in your hands. This protects, smooths and lets you style your hair, again it has been doing wonders for my hair. Even though my hair is generally in good condition, it does sometimes feel slightly dry but since using this I haven't had that once. you can use this on wet or dry hair as well. With it turning into an oil you really don't need a lot at all, I use a pea sized amount and because of this the tin lasts you ages.

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Hair Range | Tea And Beauty

Before drying my hair I pop in some Coco Loco Blow & Go Genius Lotion this amazing little thing does eleven things *Wow*. It improves shine, adds softness, conditions, smooths, strengthens, nourishes, improves comb-ability, helps repair damaged hair, protects against humidity, protects against colour fade and has heat protection. That is amazing am I right? I don't use much of this either, just a brazil nut sized amount will do you, and I apply it to my mid-lengths and ends. It does make drying my hair so much easier as it de-tangles my hair very well and doesn't dry my hair out whilst drying it.

You can buy the Coco Loco Range from £4.99.

My Summer Go To Make Up Look

My Summer Make Up | Tea And Beauty

I love summer, the birds are all out and you can go for long walks in the park and visit the ducks, hopefully you also get some nice weather. Lets be honest England is a bit hit and miss these days, however I am glad we have a sudden burst of lovely weather. I am trying not to moan but it is rather on the muggy side. I wish it would be hot during the day but cool off at night, as this is my problem I am struggling to sleep. But along with summer comes gorgeous summer make up. I like to go for a nice light look, and nothing particularly to heavy.

I always start off with my NYX Colour Correcting Concealer Pallete. I got this a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. On the odd time I haven't used it I have really noticed the difference. This will cover red patches, acne scarring and under eye bags.

Next up I go with a light weight foundation and I have been loving the Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation. It goes on really well and isn't to heavy, I hate heavy foundation in the summer, nobody wants foundation caking or running off your face whilst you are hot and sweaty. I also use Collection's Lasting Perfection Powder Foundation to set my face, plus I like to go for a matte base.

For my concealer I have teamed my NYX Pallete with Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. I love this as it has a great little brush you can just dot it or swipe it on with and either tap it in with your finger or even use a concealer brush or sponge. It gives me that bright eyed, wide awake look even after a bad nights sleep.

Now my eyebrows I have been switching about a bit recently. If you saw my post on xameliax you would have seen that I have been using the Fab Brows Brow Kit. I have been loving this, it is great in this hot weather or for when you are going to the gym. It is a semi permanent brow kit that is water proof and sweat proof. This makes it perfect for the hot summer weather. However when it's not so hot I tend to go with my trusty Benefit Brow products. I have Gimme Brow, Goof Proof and Ready, Set Brow. I absolutely love these products, I was only really starting to use them this year and they have been amazing. Whether I am using the Fab Brows kit or the Benefit products I always use Ready, Set Brow to keep my hairs in place.

For my eyes this year I have been using the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Pallete. In fact I think it's the only think I have been using. It has really beautiful shades of pink, rose gold and browns. The great thing is you can use them all individually or mix and match the colours. I finish off with a coat of No7 Lash Impact Mascara. This gives my lashes great volume.

As for my cheeks I use Collection Gorgeous Glow on my cheeks, which gives a beautiful pinky/coral shade with a lovely hint of shimmer. The more you put on the more shimmer there is but I only lightly put mine on just to make it look like I have caught a little bit of sun. My highlighter I have been sticking with Revolution Makeup Vivid Baked Highlighter. I just swirl a powder brush around it and sweep it across the tops of my cheeks, forehead and down my nose for a beautiful dewy, healthy look.

My lipsticks again I tend to swap about my go to colours this year seem to be Maybelline in Magnetic Magenta, Barry M in Truffle Shuffle and Revlon in Fire and Ice. Depending on my mood I will go with the vivid pink, nude or red lip.

What is your go to summer make up look?

Yoga With Adriene

Yoga With Adriene | Tea And Beauty

I have been doing yoga now for the past year, however I have been a bit on and off with it. This is due to the fact that I hate going to the gym, I have this weird thing about working out in front of people. Not to sure why but I just feel a bit self conscience, this rules out going to actual yoga classes, then there is the struggle to find a good yoga workout at home. However I have recently been doing Yoga With Adriene. Adriene has her own YouTube channel so you can do your yoga workout in the comfort of your own home.

If you are anything like me, I am not flexible at all! However the good thing with Adriene's video's is that you don't need to be that flexible. I started off with her Yoga For Beginners video and got through the whole routine absolutely fine, no problems at all. It was very well explained, she went through all the moves telling you exactly what to do, what breathing you should be doing and also how not to do certain moves. Adriene is all about what feels good, not how flexible you are.

Now that I have been doing this video for a bit, I have stuck with this one for about two weeks now as a way of getting used to yoga, I am going to be starting her 30 days of yoga. There are 10-20 minute videos that you do each day for 30 days. I am really looking forward to seeing what each video entails. I have tried a couple of her other video's as well and they are all so great.

What I love about Adriene is her lovely personality, it is nice to actually have a yoga instructor that is friendly and also relatable. She makes great video's that are suitable for everyone of all levels. There are so many video's to choose from that you are bound to find a good few videos that are just right for you. Adriene has done videos that target different things as well, such as, yoga for anxiety, yoga for headaches and weight loss yoga. The weight loss yoga I am really wanting to try out as well.

It's true what Adriene says "the hard part is turning up" and it is, however I have found myself rolling out the yoga mat a lot more since finding out about her channel. Yoga is now more relaxed, exciting and even fun now thanks to Adriene.

If you are thinking about starting yoga then give Yoga With Adriene a go!

House Of Wonderland Nail Transfers

House Of Wonderland Nail Transfers | Tea And Beauty

Before we start can we just take to time to soak in just how god damn cute these nail transfers* are!
When I was asked by Tess from House Of Wonderland if I would like to try out her transfers, I jumped at the chance. I love to have my nails painted and looking nice so I was excited to try them out.

When I got them through the post they came in an envelope and inside was a beautiful postcard with lots of different biscuits on it, a little note to say thank you from Tess. There was a flyer for her store, which is great to give out to a friend. Then wrapped in tissue was the nail transfers*.
From first impressions they were just so darn cute and I couldn't wait to get in there and start using them.

House Of Wonderland Nail Transfers | Tea And Beauty

They are really easy to use, after painting your nails (making sure they are fully dry first) cut out the patterns and dip them in room temperature water, until the backing slides off. Then carefully place them onto your nails. I did use my tweezers to ever so gently push them down onto my nails. You do have to be very careful not to get air bubbles as this will cause your polish to come off a little (as you can see in the pictures of the daisy nails).

House Of Wonderland Nail Transfers | Tea And Beauty

These are the easiest transfers I have used - there have been some I've tried in the past that no matter how careful you are just rip, fold etc but these do not do that. They happen to also be a great price at just £5.00 each. You can buy these from House Of Wonderland.

Will you be trying these nail transfers*?

Subscription Boxes Unpacked

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Hello Tea and Beauty readers! It’s lovely to meet you. The lovely Caroline offered me a place on her blog to do a guest post. I’m a little out of comfort zone as I don’t usually blog about beauty products, or do guest posts, so I hope you enjoy this! Let me know if you enjoy this and I may do more in future.
Last year, I got really excited by the whole Monthly subscription boxes. I’d recently moved back to Scotland, the land where they have postcodes and things get delivered…unlike Ireland, so they were the perfect treat.

I did a bit of research but couldn’t decide on one…so I signed up to three vowing to make a decision on them eventually.
Well it’s been a year and I’ve finally decided on the box I’m keeping out of the three!

Contestant Number One: Glossy Box

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty
I thought I’d start with Glossy box, since it’s probably one of the most popular boxes.
Their staple is a pink box, with Glossy box in Black text. Inside, the items are folded into the box with black tissue paper and a pink ribbon. It’s very…well…I guess you’d say it is elegantly feminine. Although some of my favourite boxes of theirs are from months where they get a bit creative!
Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty
There are usually about 5 beauty related items in the box, if they are small there are sometimes 6, if they are big items there might only be 4.

Main Pro: Trying new products each month is exciting!
Main Con: Those exciting new products may not be useful, may not be all that new (repeats), or all that nice.
Each month there has been at least one item in each box that I’ve loved, one item I didn’t know I needed but do, and a couple of okay things.
I’ve had Glossy Box for a year, and while there have been some misses, a couple of boxes just had nothing of any value to me, but knowing that next month could be a completely different story kept me coming back!
Some of my Glossy Box Favorites:

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

This eyeshadow fast became a staple of mine! It’s a light brown with purple tinges, not something I would usually go for, but looks great on!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty
As someone with sensitive skin this Cleanser and toner have worked really well with my skin. And the face primer from Talik was fantastic! It is so light in comparison to other primers. Plus all these came in regular, full sizes!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Finally, one of my all time favorite nail varnishes for casual wear, and lip tint! The lip tint is wonderful if you aren’t feeling like having too much on!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

When I first saw this speed drying mist for nail varnish, I admit I thought I’d never use it…but actually that can is now empty! It really works! I still try to sit for a little while for them to harden up, but it definitely stops me from catching my nails on every minute possible thing!

Contestant Number Two: My Little Box

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

The box doesn’t exactly fit squarely in the beauty box category, but rather it has some beauty items plus other pretty, useful, cute items.
My Little Box is a Parisian company who tried to distill Paris into a box. Now, I’m not sure how the people of Paris feel about this, and I know it’s probably playing on the whimsical, romantic view of Paris, but I don’t care, it’s adorable!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Each month an A5 illustration is included representing the theme for that month, thats right, theme!
I love the theme aspect of this box. Sometimes they are season relevant, or a more defined theme like Road Trips or Flowers…but sometimes it’s Bubbles or Sweets.
There is also a My Little Box magazine, which I’ll be honest, I very rarely read due to lack of time, but it’s cute. Plus they now have a My Little Beauty shop for all their own products, some of which are included in monthly boxes.
Main Pro: Having different themes each month keeps me interested.
Main Con: There is too long in between boxes…a whole month!
My Little Box is different from the trend, it’s quirky and offers things like bracelets, scarves, canvas bags along with their great beauty range.

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Very handy bottle for popping in your bag. It gives your hair a bit more texture and volume.

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

I do keep trying new creams, but I keep coming back to these. They might not have any sort of miracle enhancing abilities but they really soothe my skin.

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

I love the delicate gold chain necklace with a simple gold triangle. The scarf is from them too! The pink lip and cheek tint is understated but effective, and the tinted moisturiser builds very gradually leaving no streaky lines!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

I’m not usually one for Lip Gloss, but this is so deliciously red and thick it is surprising it isn’t lipstick! This passport holder looks so vibrant and funky! *checks calendar for next holiday*

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

I love the bright splashes of colour I find in their boxes some months! This is a shocking pink lip gloss, and this surprisingly tasteful orange nail varnish from Essie is a pleasure!
Contestant Number Three: Birchbox

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Birch box is the smallest size of box, but still very cute. It is similar to Glossy Box, in the sense that they specialise in beauty products, but they tend to include a lot of lip products. Until doing this blog I honestly couldn’t have told you which was between out of the two. None of the products really stood out from each box. But going through my products to pick out some of my favourites, I realised just how many of them come from Birchbox!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Main Pro: Lots of my now favourite products were introduced via Birchbox, and I’ve even bought them separately!
Main Con: Too many lip glosses
What the Birchteam are slightly lacking in design they make up for with quality products.

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

I adore this body scrub from Rituals… It feels divine. The Skin Perfecting serum takes a little getting used to. It’s like rubbing a very light baby oil into your face, but I did see improvements.
Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Nude lipstick! It’s perfect. The photo makes it look pink, but on it is the ideal nude. The Spectrum brush is fantastic, I use it with my powder every day and it’s so colourful! Birch box have their own makeup brand LOC, their eye shadow crayon in gold is so simple and beautiful!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

A few of their useful hair products! Removing frizz, sea salt spray for texture and a leave in conditioner.
So after much deliberating…the winner is…

My Little Box

WITH BIRCHBOX COMING IN SECOND PLACE.

Out of the three Boxes I’ve subscribed to for the year, I’ve only kept My Little Box.
There are a couple of reasons for this.
First: I have sensitive skin, and I now have allergies to certain chemicals I didn’t know I had! Which makes trying new products constantly a bit like Russian roulette! I was quite disappointed in Glossyboxes customer service when I had a really bad reaction to a face cream they had supplied.
Second: I have so many test pot/tube size products! It’s getting a little out of hand, and My Little Box doesn’t tend to include small testers.
Third: Both Birchbox and Glossy box include a fair amount of hair products. Now, hair products are great, and they have some very nice shampoos and conditions for you to try…except if you have a big mane of hair! Anytime (which is often) a conditioner is in the box, it’s like a wasted product. I’ll just go and condition my fringe now, thanks.
For me, My Little Box provides great products, is beautifully designed, and keeps me looking forward to next months with it’s monthly themes.
I also know, due to trying so many of them, that their products (from My Little Beauty) have yet to cause any skin irritations, which is very important.
Now, cutting down from 3 boxes to 1 was just a bit too much for me, so I thought I’d try a new box too!
Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

LoveLula is a company who specialises in natural based beauty products, perfect!

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

Subscription Boxes Unpacked | Tea And Beauty

I’ve had two boxes so far and I’ve been very happy with everything inside. They aren’t as pretty as the other boxes, in fact they don’t really have a box at all other than the packaging box. But, less chemicals, less packaging waste, happier world.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my review of Monthly Boxes.

Three Great Budget Highlighters You Need In Your Make-Up Bag

Three Great Budget Highlighters You Need In Your Make-Up Bag | Tea And Beauty

It seems there are two things that have taken the spotlight when it comes to make-up this year, one is the brows and second is highlighters. There are so many gorgeous highlighters out there that is becomes a bit daunting, you then start wondering which is the best one to get. There is no wrong answer really, however it does depend how much you want to spend. There are some fantastic highlighters out there but not everyone can afford the price tag that comes with them. So today I am showing you my favorite budget highlighters.

W7 Night Glow Highlighter

Three Great Budget Highlighters You Need In Your Make-Up Bag | Tea And Beauty

This is a great little highlighter at a great little price. What's great about this is, it is a fantastic dupe for Benefits's High Beam. This is a gorgeous pearly pink, it comes with a little brush, almost like a nail polish brush. You simply sweep the brush over your cheek bones, forehead, nose and cupids bow and you are left with a gorgeous, healthy and dewy look.
You can buy this from Amazon for just £2.63

Seventeen Skin Wow! 3 Way Highlighter

Three Great Budget Highlighters You Need In Your Make-Up Bag | Tea And Beauty

This was the first one I picked up and have been using it for about a month now, and it's a great little highlighter. It comes as a pump and you only need a little bit, a little goes a long way with this one. You can use this to prime your skin, add a little to your foundation or use as a highlighter. It leaves your skin looking healthy, refreshed and dewy.
This is available from Boots.com for £5.99

Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter

Three Great Budget Highlighters You Need In Your Make-Up Bag | Tea And Beauty

I have this in Peach Lights and it is a beautiful colour. This is a powder instead of a liquid, and is a gorgeous pinky/peach colour with a lovely shimmer running through it. It sweeps on very well with a powder brush, leaving the skin looking healthy and refreshed.
Available from Superdrug for £3.00

Have you used any of these highlighters?
