New Years Eve Nails

New Years Eve Nails

It is New Years Eve!! I can't get over how fast this year has gone.
We are planning to move house next year and I also want to up my blogging game and Etsy Store so we have plenty to be looking forward to hopefully.
Anyway as for New Years Eve I have gotten around to finally showing you what my nails look like. To be honest we actually aren't going out this year it is the left over Christmas food, Micheal McIntyre Happy & Glorious and we will be bringing in the new year in our pyjamas whilst watching the London fireworks on TV, I always like to have my nails painted though even if we aren't going out, it brings a bit of glamour to the night!

I have gone with a nice sparkly dark purple and gold.
I think the dark colour of Duchess goes so well with Honey Ryder and the Confetti polish just tops it off nicely, adding a bit of New Year to it all.

New Years Eve Nails

I painted just two coats of each colour, leaving a good five minutes between each coat to allow it to fully dry. I used a top coat on both colours to give a smooth base before using Confetti and Starlight on my ring finger. With Starlight I did a gradient half way down the nail, it's not really noticeable but does give that added bit of sparkle.

Here is a full list of everything used to create this gorgeous mani:
No7 Base Coat
Barry M - Duchess
O.P.I - Honey Ryder
Barry M - Conffetti in Marshmallow
Barry M - Starlight
Barry M Daylight Curing Top Coat

I think this is a great mani for New Years and will go really well with your sparkly outfit.

I hope everyone has a great New Years Eve and remember to stay safe! Happy 2016 to everyone.

Christmas Present Haul

Christmas present haul

Hello! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. It's so sad that Christmas has come and gone already. I have loved Christmas Eve as the build up and excitement not just from me but the kids as well was great, my partner was home for Christmas Eve this year so we did our usual Christmas Eve Traditions with him included.
Christmas Day was a lovely day, we got up and had a lovely breakfast and then opened up all our presents. My partners mum and boyfriend came round for a few hours as well which was nice. We were certainly stuffed after our dinner though - we started with soup, then had the usual Christmas turkey dinner and finished with a chocolate melt dome cake filled with orange cream.
As for my presents this year, I got some really lovely things - and A LOT of beauty products which I was extremely happy about.

Christmas Present haul

I'm going to start though with the book I got and it was one I have been looking at getting for a little while. It is Lauren Conrad Beauty.

Christmas Present Haul

I have always been a fan of Lauren Conrad since the days of The Hills - which I still like to watch!
She just seems to effortlessly beautiful without seeming to think to much of herself so I wanted to read her book, I have read peoples reviews complaining that it's just a case of eat, drink and exercise with beauty tips. I am however already on chapter 4 and yes it is a bit like that but it is coming from her point of view from things she has done and tried in the past. She has asked a lot of questions to beauty and hair professionals purely because it is something that has interested her from an early age watching her mum do her make up. So I'd say if you are a Lauren Conrad fan you would actually like this book - I am definitely enjoying it.

I was also brought the Soap & Glory The Whole She-Bang gift set. To be fair I don't think this needs to be explained in to much detail, it's safe to say I am pretty sure everyone knows about this one.
I have actually never gotten around to buying one for myself though so it was a great present.
The bag it comes in is just gorgeous too. The products you get in the set are fantastic and it really does pretty much cover everything you would actually need, everything smells lovely and I am quite excited to try it all out.

Christmas Present Haul

Next up is the Boots No7 Gift Set. This is another fantastic one as again you get so much in it and pretty much covers everything you might need as well. From face creams, bath products to mascara. You can't really go wrong with the No7 range can you, I currently use their youthful facial oil and it has done my skin wonders so this set I am looking forward to using and seeing what the full set does for my skin.

Christmas Present Haul

As you may have read my partner took me to Derby to pick out some items from the Lush Store and after having to endure the smell in our bedroom for nearly a month without being able to touch them - now I finally can! I adore my Lush products they are my go to bath products on a Friday night when it comes to giving myself a good pamper.

Christmas Present Haul

Apart from all these bits I also got some Thorntons Christmas Favorite Chocolates, a Body Shop voucher, a Lush voucher, money and an Avon Little Black Dress gift set.

What did you get for Christmas this year? Let me know in the comments below.

Our Christmas Eve Traditions

Christmas Eve Traditions

Christmas Eve few the past few years has been a lovely family day, my partner sometimes has to work Christmas Eve but today he is here to spend it with us.

In the mornings we have breakfast  and the kids then open up their Christmas Eve boxes, these usually have pjs, socks, chocolate, a dvd and a little crafty item to make.

Christmas Eve Traditions

We usually settle down after lunch and watch Christmas films, our favourites are home alone, elf and love actually. In the evening the kids get ready for bed and we always watch the snowman and crack open a box of chocolates usually miniature heroes. This has been a tradition for my partner since he was a kid and we have carried it on with our two.

Christmas Eve Traditions

We have a break in between film to play a game we have a choice between monopoly and trivial pursuit - whichever we don't play we play that on Christmas Day, this year we are playing trivial pursuit  today.

Christmas Eve Traditions

Of course Christmas Eve isn't complete without the chocolates and Pringles. Let the fun comense.

Christmas Eve Traditions

I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas, there will be a Christmas present haul in the next few days so look out for that.

My Christmas Playlist

My Christmas Playlist

Christmas is officially in 8 days time and I don't know about you but I am starting to get really excited now. For a while I haven't really been in the Christmas spirit, I don't know what it has been but it's just not felt particularly Christmassy this year!
However what I have loved doing this month is sitting with a mug of hot chocolate and wrapping Christmas presents whilst having my favorite Christmas songs playing.

I share my playlist with my boyfriend so our playlist is made up of songs that we both love.
On our Playlist we have:

Lana Del Ray - Video Games
Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
Wham! - Last Christmas
Mariah Carey - All I want For Christmas Is You
Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
Band Aid 1984 - Do They Know It's Christmas?
The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York
Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmas
Cliff Richard - Mistletoe And Wine
Andy Williams - It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
Frank Sinatra - Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
East 17 - Stay Another Day
Westlife - I Have A Dream
Slade - Merry Xmas Everyone
Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree
Aled Jones - Walking In The Air
Robbie Williams - Angels
The Jackson 5 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

My favorite songs from our playlist is Lana Del Ray, it reminds me of Christmas every year now when I hear it as it's the first song my boyfriend listens to when he's washing up the Christmas dinner dishes. Mariah Carey, I love this song and it's the first song I play when December hits. Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra have both made amazing Christmas songs in my opinion and of course you have to have East 17 playing right?

This playlist has definitely gotten me more in the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Shopping In Derby

Christmas Shopping In Derby

If you follow me on Instagram then you will know about a week ago I was in Derby to do my Christmas shopping. My lovely boyfriend took me there so I could go into the Lush Store in particular to pick up what I wanted for Christmas, I may have picked up their Cranberry face mask to (which you can find here). I thought I would show you some of the pictures I managed to get of Intu Derby's Christmas decorations because they really are amazing!

The first thing I noticed was the Christmas tree, which I had to go up to the second floor to even get a full picture of because it is that tall. I loved all the snowflakes on it, it was so pretty and really stands out.

Christmas Shopping In Derby

The matching snowflake on the top of the tree is great to. It looks so festive all lit up and the lights catch the snowflakes really well, making them shine bright to.
I think the theme was definitely snowflakes at Derby, the hanging ceiling decorations were also snowflakes. These were mini snowflakes all attached in a big circle. They were stunning with the lights shining on them!

Christmas Shopping In Derby

They had an entire store decked out into a Santa's Grotto for the kids. It looked amazing, if only I was a kid again because from the outside it looked like something you would really want to go into as a kid. There were elves standing outside and they were greeting the kids and it just looked so magical.

Christmas Shopping In Derby

As I mentioned earlier I went into the Lush Store and it's one of my most favorite shops to go in, the smell is amazing to me. I know people who say the smell gives them a headache, my boyfriend is one of them so he had to wait outside whilst I went in. The staff there are always so helpful, and one lady even gave me a demonstration and I'm glad she did as otherwise I wouldn't have thought to pick the bits I did (Christmas gifts will be up after Christmas day, so won't spoil it now).

Of course we went and had a spot of lunch at the food court, I sprung for the jacket potato with beans and cheese as it has actually been quite a while since I had one.
Overall it was a lovely day and I'm so glad we went.

Lush - Cranberry Festive Face Mask

Cranberry Festive Face Mask

Lush is fast becoming one of my most favorite beauty brands yet. Friday nights are my pamper nights, a long soak in the bath followed by a good face mask. I have wanted to try their Cranberry Festive Mask ever since it came out and my partner took me to Derby a couple of weeks ago so I could pick out my Christmas Presents from the shop - I was going to give him a list to pick from but he said he wasn't being held responsible for picking these sort of things out for me haha.
Whilst there I finally managed to pick one up.

I swear by face masks, no beauty regime should be complete without one and I was excited to try this as I have heard good things about it plus it's Christmassy which makes it even better!

This face mask is full of antioxidant cranberries and cleansing fennel seeds, it has a blend of argan oil and rose clay leaves to leave your skin feeling soft and nourished.
And boy does it! My skin felt unbelievably soft, I actually don't think my skin has ever felt this soft before after using a face mask. It is different to the face masks I have used before, it has bits of cranberries in it where the past masks have been really smooth. The cranberries have helped to exfoliate my skin as well when spreading it on my face. It leaves your skin tingling for a good five minutes as well whilst it's on.

I honestly can not say enough good things about this face mask, it has definitely made me want to try the other face masks that Lush do.
You can buy this from the Lush Stores or from their website for £6.75.

Have you tried this face mask yet? Did you like it, what's your favorite face mask from Lush? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Have Yourself Some Christmas Sparkle!

Have yourself some christmas sparkle

There's nothing better during Christmas than glittery, sparkly beautiful nails. I seem to use my Jacava London nail polish in Red Velvet a lot during this time of year as well - which is what I am wearing in this post. But what's better than that? Adding glitter of course!

I have so many glitter polishes but the one I seem to use more than any other is Barry M's Starlight is is truly beautiful and really really sparkles in the light, making it perfect for the Christmas parties.

You only need two coats of Red Velvet for full coverage which I like and just a sprinkle of glitter. I wiped most of it off the brush on the bottle before lightly painting a little bit on. I finished with Barry M's daylight curing top coat. I really like this as a top coat and it's good on any nail polish not just their other daylight curing polishes.

I think Red Velvet is the perfect colour for this time of year and sparkly nails are fantastic for Christmas.

One Wish In Manhattan

One Wish In Manhattan

Now Christmas is here, I have started the Christmas themed reads. I have a whole list that I want to try and get through this month and decided to start with One Wish In Manhattan.
We all know what sort of book this is going to be, the mushy love story, but hey it's Christmas that is exactly what I want!

Christmas: It's the most wonderful time of year...to fall in love.

The temperature is dropping, snow is on it's way and Hayley Walker is heading to New York with one wish...to start over.

With her daughter Angel, Hayley is ready for adventure. But there's more to New York than twinkly lights and breathtaking skyscrapers. Angel has her own Christmas wish - to find her real Dad.

While Hayley tries to fulfill her daughter's wish, she crosses paths with billionaire Oliver Drummond. Restless and bored with fast living, there's something intriguing about him that has Hayley hooked.

Can Hayley dare to think her own dreams will come true - could a New York Christmas turn into a New York Forever?

Travel to the Big Apple this Christmas and join Hayley and Oliver as they realise life isn't just about filling the minutes...it's about making every moment count.

A big warm-hearted story, full of Christmas sparkle that will delight fans of Jane Costello, Miranda Dickenson and Lucy Diamond.

My Review

These are the sort of books I love - easy, fun and a good satisfying end, and I was not disappointed.
This was a good easy read and the chapters are not to long either, which I always like, if you don't have to long then I find it's great to be able to pick it up quick and get a couple of chapters in...or so you think!
The thing is I found that when I finished a chapter I had to read the next one so I knew what happened next, this was the reason I finished it in two days.
I found myself liking all the characters and being quite invested in them, hoping everything worked out for all of them.
Their stories were interesting and the first time Hayley and Oliver met was so fun and different.
The book was well written to which I liked. It was very descriptive so you could always picture the scene.
The story is written from both Hayley and Oliver's point of view which is great, as you then get a sense of how they are both feeling.
Overall if you are looking for a lovely story with a happy ending, then this is the book for you. Plus it's a Christmassy story and it's based in New York where it is snowing! This is the first book by Mandy Baggot that I have read and it will certainly not be the last.

Will you be reading this book, or have you already? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Whittard Of Chelsea: How To Make The Perfect Cup Of Tea

Whittard Of Chelsea: How To Make The Perfect Cup Of Tea | Tea And Beauty

If you are anything like me, you will go through about 5-6 mugs of tea a day. Tea helps me keep going, perks me up and plus now it's winter a good cup of tea will soon warm us all up.
I was asked by Whittard Of Chelsea, if I would share my tips on how to make the perfect cup of tea, when it comes to tea, how could I refuse?!

I like a good strong cup of tea, a nice dark brown colour.
I always use teabags as I have found these make a nice strong cup. Letting it brew for a good 2-3 minutes before first squeezing the teabag twice against the inside of the mug and then taking it out. I have to have two level spoons of sugar and just a splash of milk.

Whittard Of Chelsea: How To Make The Perfect Cup Of Tea | Tea And Beauty

You just can't beat a good cup of tea with a bacon and egg sandwich in my opinion.
If you like using loose tea then check out Whittard Of Chelsea's Guide To Making The Perfect Cup Of Tea. In their guide they explain about each different type of tea and how long to brew it for and at what temperature. They even tell you what type of tea is best for what time of day it is. It is certainly very useful and worth checking out. Below you will also find their video on how to brew the perfect cup of tea.

Insta Natural Spot Treatment

Insta Natural spot treatment

During the winter months my skin can have a really hard time, the constant wind, rain and occasional snow can play havoc with my skin. I always find I need to change up my skin care a bit, especially when I have dry skin and looks dull normally anyway. So when I was asked to try out Insta Naturals Spot Treatment* I was more than happy as I had a feeling it would come in quite useful.

And to be fair it did, the cold weather came around and within the week I had a lovely big spot....on my cheek! Cringe worthy right? Who wants a spot right on their cheek? Oh and this was one of those lovely big red angry spots btw.
So i went ahead and tried the spot treatment. According to the packaging all you need to do it dip a cotton bud into the liquid and rub it on the spot. As it is packed with Salicylic Acid it is supposed to dry the spot out and make it dissapear.

I say supposed to because unfortunately this did not happen!
A week later I was still battling the horrible thing attached to my face, having been using the spot treatment twice a day since having the spot and it still not helping much at all, I ended up doing what I normally do and having a wash in the evening and before putting my facial oil and night cream on I stuck a big blob of Sudacrem on, washing it off before going to bed. By the next morning this had worked and it had come down a bit.

Insta Natural spot treatment

I was rather disapointed with this spot treatment to be honest because I have used Insta Naturals face creams and mud masks in the past and found them to be good, so I had high hopes for this.
Maybe it just didn't work for me but to be fair my partner tried it as well, he has quit smoking cigarettes now for a good two months but in the process has been getting spots himself, and he said he didn't find it working for him either.

As I said maybe it will work for other people but I just found it didn't really do much for me at all.
However if you did want to try this one out, you can buy it from Amazon for £17.95.

Have you tried this spot treatment before? Did it work for you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
